FRANKLIN D. MASSEY

Franklin Delano “Earth Man” Massey was born on Friday May 13, 1944 to his parents, Jimmy D. Massey and Mozella Massey in El Dorado. Franklin was a member of the New Providence Missionary Baptist Church. He was a 1962 graduate of Washington High School and a 1965 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

He taught school at Washington High School and Gardner High School in Strong. He was an employee of Gulf Oil Company, Clean Harbors for 27 years as a chemist, owner of Massey’s Recreation Country Club in Norphlet, the Triple “M” Hog Farm and the Triple “M” Lawn Service.

Survivors are his children, LaShunda Massey, Franklin S. Massey (Stephanie), and Jimmy D. Massey; sisters, Jimmie-Faye Goodwin, Vashti Richardson (Don), Juliet Waller, Ozella Wingate, and Doris Byars; brothers, Granville Massey, Milton Massey, Jerry Massey (Yolanda), Paul Massey, John Massey (Tometrius) Joseph Massey (Debra), Dave Micheal Massey Sr., Ralph Massey (Diane), and Mark W. Massey Sr.; and grandchildren, Charles Owens V, Charisma Owens, Trinity Massey, Lana Massey, Gloria Massey, and Griffin Massey.

Public visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at Sims Mortuary.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, at the El Dorado Municipal Auditorium with Apostle John Massey, eulogist. Interment will be at Rehobeth Cemetery in Norphlet, under the directions of Sims Mortuary.
