MARY E. GEAHLEN

Mary Elizabeth Geahlen was born on January 2, 1924, in Miami County, Ohio, to parents Ora Benny Cable and E. Grace (Hatfield) Cable. She passed away on Thursday, October 13 at the age of 92. Upon High School graduation, Mary attended Ft. Wayne Bible College. While there she met and married her husband James E. Geahlen on August 26, 1945. Throughout 70 years of marriage, Mary and Jim pastored churches in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Indiana, New Mexico, Arkansas and Arizona.

In addition to mothering four children, Mary worked outside the home as a Pathology Secretary in Clovis, NM, Pie Baker in Middlebury, IN, a Church Secretary in various places, and supported her husband in all his ministries. Mary was a wonderful baker and cook, enjoyed oil painting and crocheting, and loved playing table games with friends and family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and wife. She was quick to serve her neighbors and church family. Mary had a sharp mind with an acute ability to memorize songs, scripture, rhymes and quips that she was known to quote at the perfect moment. Above all else, Mary was a woman whose life was centered on the work of Jesus Christ. One of her favorite sayings to quote was, “Only one life, ‘twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.” So as her life on this earth has now passed, she is reaping the rewards of her eternal investments and is reunited with her husband and so many of her loved ones who have gone before her in Christ.

Mary is survived by her four children, Ruth Zink of El Dorado, AR, Judy King of Moore, OK, Thomas Geahlen of El Dorado, AR, and Esther Rehbein and husband Jon of Moore, OK. Nine grandchildren, Theresa Fell, Jamie Shock, Samuel Shock, David Shock, Matthew King, Amy Cruz, Stephanie Geahlen, Andrew Rehbein, and Katelyn Rehbein. Fifteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband James E. Geahlen.
