Brewer, Phelps, Voss represent area on All-State team

Recently the Arkansas Activities Association All-State softball teams were revealed.

This season, Union County is home to three all-state softball honorees.

On the 6A level, El Dorado senior Rebecca Voss received the honor.

In class 3A, Smackover Lady Buckaroo Mallory Brewer was selected.

And Parkers Chapel’s Courtney Phelps was the local representative on the 2A All-State team.

A commonality for El Dorado, Smackover, and Parkers Chapel was that each team had a quality campaign.

The El Dorado Lady Wildcats went 20-8 and finished third in the 6A-South. El Dorado’s season came to an end in round one of the state tournament.

Throughout the season, Voss performed well. The senior pitcher had a record of 17-8. She had an earned run average of 1.58. Offensively, Voss batted .324 with 10 RBIs.

In Class 3A Smackover is represented by Brewer. The junior pitcher helped the Lady Buckaroos (20-16) earn a league crown.

Brewer was vital to Smackover reaching the first round of the state tournament.

She had a record of 9-8 with 95 strikeouts and 87 hits allowed in over 103 innings pitched.

The Parkers Chapel Lady Trojans went 26-10 en route to advancing to the Class 2A state semifinals for a second consecutive season. Phelps was an important cog for PC. The pitcher had an ERA of 1.86 and struck out 251 batters.

At the plate, the junior hit .481 and had 37 RBIs. She led the Lady Trojans in batting average and RBIs.
