Gardner High Reunion to begin on Friday

STRONG — The celebration of the Gardner High Semi-Annual All-School Reunion will be held July 1-3 in Strong.

All graduates, attendees, descendents of Gardner High School, Huttig, Urbana and friends are welcome and invited to attend.

Scheduled activities include:

Registration Meet and Greet at Strong High School cafeteria, 6 p.m. on Friday, July 1;

Alumni and Friends Breakfast and Business meeting at Strong High cafeteria, 8 a.m. Saturday, July 2;

Alumni and Friends Banquet at Strong Community Center, 7 p.m. Saturday, July 2;

Alumni and Friends Worship Service at Shiloh Baptist Church in Strong, 11 a.m. Sunday, July 3;

Picnic and Reunion wrap-up, Strong Community Center, 2 p.m., Sunday, July 3.

The speaker for the banquet will be Bernice “Bunny” Daniels Jackson of Houston, Texas. A native of Strong, Jackson is a 1966 graduate of Gardner High School. She grew up in the Batts Chapel community.

Her parents are the late Ivy and Savannah Thomas Daniels.

She is the sixth of seven children, and is a graduate of AM&N College (now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff), where she majored in Home Economics Education and General Science.

She is a retired educator with a career in teaching and interacting with “special needs” students.

Jackson is an outstanding writer and author of the book, “Somebody Should Have Told Me.”

This inspiring read is about her life growing up in the Batts Chapel and Strong communities.

She has been approached about turning the book into a movie, and copies of her book will be available at the banquet.

She has also made appearances in a number of videos and movies.
