PATRICIA A. DeFOREST

Patricia Ann DeForest, 75, of Farmerville, La. and formerly of Smackover, passed away Dec. 6, 2016, at Union General Hospital in Farmerville.

Patricia was born Feb. 14, 1941 to the late George Jefferson Burson and Alene Smith Burson. She was always a loving mother and a best friend.

Her passion was taking care of people, so she became a LPN and dedicated herself to caring for those who could not take care of themselves until her health forced her to retire. She always loved being around people, especially children, and the elderly. In her recent years she looked forward to her daily visits to the Senior Activity center to play games and interact with the regular. She very much enjoyed all types of games, especially crossword puzzles. For the past several years she was blessed with having Ms. Linda for a roommate and friend to be there for her daily.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur DeForest; sisters, Betty Jo Farrar and Mary Frances Cheatham; and one infant daughter, Elizabeth Alene West.

Patricia is survived by her sons, James Shumaker (Ronda) of Longview, Texas, and Pete West (Marlene) of South Windsor, Conn.; grandchildren, Joe and Laura Corpora, Kelsey Corpora, Lisa Corpora, and Austin West; and great-grandson, Grayson Corpora, all of Connecticut.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Perry’s Funeral Chapels.

Services will start at 1 p.m. on Saturday with interment at Smackover Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the St. Baldricks Foundation.
