Ham donation

Spirit of giving: Lt. Charles Smith of the Salvation Army in El Dorado receives a donation of 90 hams, valued at $2,100, from John Tomanio, store manager of Brookshire's Food & Pharmacy, located at 2202 N. West Ave., on Monday. Brookshire's Food & Pharmacy and Hormel Foods plan to donate over $100,000 worth of hams to food banks in their marketing area. The Salvation Army will be cooking and serving a Christmas Eve meal on Dec. 24, and any leftover hams will be given to New Beginnings to serve at their Christmas day meal, Lt. Smith said.
