EL DORADO — Unattended homes and unlocked vehicles have fallen prey to a rash of burglaries and break-ins which are currently being investigated in El Dorado.

An El Dorado man and his roommate returned home Wednesday to find various electronics missing from their residence on Hargett Drive. According to the El Dorado Police Department’s incident report, a 32-inch Emerson television and a PlayStation4 game console were reported missing from the living room. Upon inspecting the remainder of the home, residents also reported that a 24-inch Sanyo television and XBox game system were missing from a bedroom, as well as video games. There were no signs of forced entry, according to the incident report.

Three air conditioner window units were reported stolen from a residence in the 1300 block of East Cedar Street on Thursday, according to an El Dorado police report. The homeowner told police that she was meeting a repairman at the home when she discovered the window units missing. No suspect information was provided at the time of the report.

A resident of the 700 block of El Dorado Avenue filed a theft report with the police department on Sunday. When police arrived, the man said that his black XBox game system and controller, four video games and two pairs of shoes were missing from the residence. According to the police report, there were no signs of forced entry detected.

A homeowner returned home Sunday to the 1100 block of Orchard Lane Drive after a trip to discover that his residence had been vandalized and his gun safe broken in to. According to the incident report, the items stolen include a television, .22 caliber automatic Marlin rifle, 12 gauge Remington shotgun, .22 caliber Crickett rifle, .30-30 Marlin rifle, Remington 770 .30-06, Wolf .50 black powder rifle, .22 magnum Marlin rifle, Lorcin .380 caliber handgun as well as various ammunition.

Multiple vehicles were reported burglarized while parked in a local apartment complex on Tuesday in the 500 block of Beverly Drive. El Dorado police officers responded to a total of four calls throughout the day at the complex. According to the incident reports, the vehicles were all left unlocked overnight either due to faulty locking mechanisms or habit. An electronic cigarette was one of the only items reported missing from the break-ins. The scenes were processed for evidence and officers were able to lift latent fingerprints from the vehicles.

Officers were provided with footage from the apartment complex’s security cameras which had captured scenes of the suspects entering the premises and committing the burglaries. According to the report, the footage depicted a vehicle which followed a resident’s vehicle through the gate before dropping off several individuals and exiting the property to park across the street on Beverly Drive.
