El Dorado to offer big name artists this weekend

Big names from the R&B and Hip-hop worlds are going to be in town this weekend with Lil’ Scrappy at the Brickhouse tonight and Nivea in town on Saturday at Pandora’s Lounge.

I’m so excited to see big names coming into town on a regular basis. Our local venue owners like Jayo Owens and Mike Jackson are doing a great job bringing big names to our city, and it looks great on us.

Other big things going on this weekend include the celebration of J2W’s 12th anniversary on the music scene.

The Anointed Shutes Sisters, Tryump and Young Deac will be joining him at Victory Church at 7 p.m. Saturday to celebrate this new milestone.

Downtown music this weekend will also include the Neel Street Strummers on Saturday at a favorite local venue, and Trey Hawinks will be performing acoustic sets at the Downstairs Pub tonight and at Marilyn’s on the Square on Saturday.

If you missed Age of Man at Hill’s last weekend with special guest vocalist Emily Cole, you missed a real treat.

Matt Benson does great on vocals for the group, but Cole put her blues face on for real last Saturday night.

Seeing everyone laughing and dancing each weekend is one of my favorite things about our city, and watching our local talent bring that out is something to really be thankful for.

If it weren’t for our local artists and venue owners, our city wouldn’t have near the character is does. Be sure to support our local acts.

They’re worth a listen, and I know you’ll be glad you did!

Have a great weekend, everyone!
