When emergency dispatch personnel advised Union County Sheriff’s Office deputies of a possible shooting in Junction City on Wednesday night, deputies responded to the area, though no signs of a shooting were found, according to Mike McGough, Union County sheriff.

Even though there was no shooting, deputies did transport two men to UCSO jail after two weapons were found.

According to a UCSO report, deputies were dispatched to the Junction City area in reference to approximately 30 vehicles leaving the El Dorado area headed south on U.S. Highway 167 toward Junction City to have a “shootout.” While responding to the scene, dispatch advised deputies that an officer with the Junction City, La., Police Department had two vehicles stopped at First and Plum streets.

The deputy asked the driver of one of the vehicles — Divante Marbray, 21, of El Dorado — if there were any weapons inside of the vehicle. Marbray said there were not. However, the report said the deputy found a loaded Taurus Millennium .40 cal pistol in the vehicle’s trunk.

Marbray told the deputy that the pistol was his. He was placed under arrest for carrying a prohibited weapon and transported to the UCSO jail.

A separate deputy searched the second vehicle, driven by Randy Miller, 19, of El Dorado. As a passenger in the back seat of the vehicle pushed the driver’s seat forward to exit for the search, the deputy saw a firearm in the floor of the backseat. The deputy asked Miller if the firearm was his, to which he replied that it was. Miller was arrested for carrying a prohibited weapon and transported to the UCSO jail.

Both of the men were issued a $465.00 cash or corporate surety bond. They both bonded out and were ordered to appear on Nov. 2 in Union County District Court.
