Felsenthal council meeting

Felsenthal officials review audit, electric project

At their September meeting, Felsenthal municipal officials reviewed a recent financial audit and updated an electric line project.

A routine state legislative audit found no problems but did suggest several clerical changes. Officials noted that those matters have been addressed, including changing procedure to modify the city’s budget in a timely manner when significant changes arise. Officials had been making a single change to reflect various discrepancies.

With funding in place, an electric line project is set to begin. City Council members approved a resolution to modify the city’s budget, reflecting grant funds received for the proejct and for expenses related to street resurfacing.

Susan Nimmo, biologist supervisor of Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, told the council that a road leading to lakes within Beryl Anthony Lower Wildlife Management Area has been opened. Nimmo noted that AGFC plans to close ATV trails in the WMA, a plan that area residents oppose. She also said that residents should remove any personal property in the WMA.

In other business:

• City Attorney Matt Thomas noted that he has been in contact with representatives of a sewer improvement district regarding a move to dissolve the district and then disperse remaining funds.

• A resident asked that the city remove a tree on its property that, if it fell, could damage his home. The tree has been cut down.
