Lady Dragons knock off Arkadelphia

FORDYCE - Junction City tipped off its girls basketball season Saturday with a 51-28 victory over Arkadelphia in the Fordyce Bank & Trust Invitational.

The Lady Dragons advanced to play Hot Springs Lakeside Thursday at 4 p.m.

Junior guard Nikayla Fisher scored 19 points to lead Junction City past the Lady Badgers. Jyrezhia Nathan chipped in with 11. Chakeenia Malone scored six with five rebounds while Samantha Meadows scored five.

The Lady Dragons (1-0) will take on Class 5A Lakeside, which knocked off Camden Harmony Grove 56-48. The Lady Rams, who ran their record to 4-0, led 29-15 at the half but were tied 34-34 going into the fourth quarter.

Lakeside, which played without twin guards Tatum and Thea Rice, who were in Tennessee competing in a tennis tournament, was led by Lexi Tejcek with 19 points and nine rebounds. Daylyn Bellamy scored 11 with seven boards and Gacen Blount contributed 11 points.
