JAMES E. ALBRITTON

James Edward Albritton of Junction City, LA., formerly of Osceola, “Ed” as he was known to friends and family, passed away on Nov. 8, 2015 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado, due to complications of dementia and ALS.

Ed was born Oct. 11, 1932 to the late Mr. and Mrs. John Albritton on a farm outside Camden. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Junction City. Ed graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1955 with a B.S. in agricultural engineering. Following graduation, Ed and his former wife, Shirley Williams Albritton (deceased), went to Panama for two years to serve a post with the university working at an experiment station. Following their return to the states, they lived in various parts of Arkansas with the majority of their time spent in Victoria and Osceola. Ed worked many years for the Soil Conservation Service before accepting a position in Victoria with Wesson Farms. At Wesson Farms, he was instrumental in their catfish farming operation. After a short length of time in Jackson, Tenn., and Albion, Ill., Ed returned to Osceola in 1988 to accept a position with the drainage district manager from which he retired in 2011. Ed married the late Dortha Copley in 1988. Ed was active in the Rotary Club and was honored as Rotarian of the Year and a Paul Harris Fellow. Ed was also an active member of Calvary Baptist Church during his time in Osceola.

Ed is survived by his wife of four years, Sue Butler Albritton of Junction City, La., and her family; his brother, Charles Albritton (Letha) of Springdale; his three daughters, Sue Collins (Larry), Diann Albritton (both of Jackson, Tenn.) and Alice Moisan (Jim) of Memphis, Tenn.; step-son, Don (Sue Ann) Copley and his family of Albion, Ill.; five grandchildren, Josh Collins (Tiffany), Emily Collins, Christopher Ruch, Franklin Ruch, and John Phillip Ruch; three great-grandchildren, Sam, Addie, and Lilly Collins; and his cat, Lilly Bell.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the John R. Williamson Hospice House for their exceptional care and kindness.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12 at Roller-Swift Funeral Home of Osceola. A visitation will follow the funeral on Thursday, at Roller-Swift Funeral Home.
