Conferences, workshops set at local schools

Cats Conferences will be held from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday at the El Dorado High School cafeteria. Parents and students will meet with their homeroom teacher for academic planning, four-year plans will be revised and registration for the 2015-16 school year will be completed, according to a news release from the school.

Representatives from the El Dorado Promise Scholarship, Upward Bound, South Arkansas Community College and the National Guard will be available throughout the day to talk with parents and students in the Commons area.

A senior parent Promise Scholarship meeting will be held from noon until 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the EHS Auditorium, presented by Sylvia Thompson, Promise director.

A financial aid workshop will be held from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. for senior parents, to guide them in filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and to answer other financial aid questions.

COMPASS testing will be available on campus for juniors and seniors for a $10 fee. Identification is required for testing.

Barton Junior High Kitten Conferences for grades seven and eight will be held from 7:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. today, according to a news release from the school. Students and parents will have the opportunity to meet with teachers at their scheduled time to register for classes for the 2015-2016 school year. Eighth-grade students will also complete their four-year high school plans. It will not a be regular school day for students; however, they will need to attend their scheduled Kitten Conference with a parent or guardian.
