• Union Baptist Church: The new pastor of the church in Old Union, Jonathan Morris, 38, will preach to members of the congregation at 11 a.m. on Sunday at the church. Morris and his wife, Torie, have two sons, Josh, 11, and Braeden, 9. Morris and his family moved to Union County from O’Donnel, Texas, where he was a member of the missions board for the International Commission.

• Mount Sinai Freewill Baptist Church: Annual homecoming and revival services will be held this week at the church. Homecoming service will be at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday and special guests will be the Rev. Lacy Miles and members of the First Baptist Church of Magnolia. Revival services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday with the Rev. Edwin Sharp of Magnolia as the speaker. The public is invited to attend.

• New Providence Missionary Baptist Church and Snow Hill Missionary Baptist Church: The Ouachita District Association 79th annual Congress of Christian Education will convene at New Providence in Norphlet and Snow Hill in Smackover, where the Rev. Stennis and Dr. Curtis Tatum are pastors. The event will begin at 7 p.m. on Sunday at New Providence with district choirs in concert, under the direction of June Rogers. Starting at 5 p.m. on Monday and continuing through Thursday, the Rev. and Sister Roy Williams will present a special feature. Classes and workshops will start at 5:50 and continue until 7:20 p.m. each day. Adults will remain at New Providence and youth classes will be held at Snow Hill. Evening sessions will start at 7:30 at New Providence. On Monday, the Rev. Michael Pierce, pastor of Greater Paradise Missionary Baptist Church, will deliver the Congress Sermon and on Tuesday, Sister Beatrice James, congress dean, will present the Dean’s Address. On Wednesday, the Rev. Wylie George, congress president, will present his annual message and on Thursday, the Rev. Nicholas Nettles, pastor of New Exodus Baptist Church of North Little Rock, will deliver the graduation message. The public is invited to attend.

• Community Church of God in Christ: Vacation Bible School will be held at the church, located at 1217 Ross Ave., El Dorado, from 6 until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Pre-registration will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday at the church. For more information, call Lisa Matheney at 870-500-0438.

• Jerusalem Quinn Baptist Church: The annual musicians’ appreciation will be held at the church, located at 643 Quinn Road, at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Roy Owens and the congregation of Ebenezer Baptist Church of Sparkman will be guests.

• Snow Hill Baptist Church: The annual Men and Women Day will be held at the church in Smackover at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Guest church will be Mount Tabor of Fordyce. Pastor Kenneth Juniel will deliver the message. Everyone is invited to attend.

• Starlight Missionary Baptist Church: The pastor and wife’s 16th anniversary celebration will be held at the church at 1406 Detroit St., El Dorado, at 11 a.m. on Sunday. At 3 p.m. on Sunday, Pastor Eugene Farley and members of the New Olive Branch Baptist Church of El Dorado, will be the guests. Everyone is invited to attend.

• The United Baptist Church: The pastor and wife’s 15th appreciation service will be held at the church at 130 Hinson Road (behind Lion Oil Refinery), at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Dr. Paul Rainey is pastor and guest speaker will be Bishop Dr. George Calloway Jr. of St. James Baptist Church. Lunch will be served.

• Union Arc Baptist Church: The Choir Annual will be held at 6 p.m. today at the church in Dodge City. The Rev. Anthony Thompson is pastor of the church. Guest choir will be El Bethel Baptist Church of Three Creeks. The Rev. Charles R. Henry is pastor of the church. Emcee will be the Rev. Anthony Thompson.

• First Baptist Church-Huttig: A singing program will be held at the church, 204 12th St., Huttig, at 6:30 p.m. today. Guests will be the Gospel Echoes of El Dorado, the Rev. Willie Smith and special guests will be the CW Singers of El Dorado. The Choir Annual will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at the church and special guests will be the Rev. Jimmy Miller and members of Shady Grove Baptist Church of El Dorado. Everyone is invited to attend.

• Calion Assembly of God Church: A singing will be held at the church at 6 p.m. today. Refreshments and fellowship will be held after the singing in the Fellowship Hall.

• Parkers Chapel United Methodist Church: A presentation called Colossal Coaster World will be from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. July 25th. It will be available for ages 3-11 and they will be able to enjoy singing, bible lessons, arts and crafts, snacks, lunch, games and other activities.

• Olive Light A.M.E. Church-Smackover: The Three Nights of Blaze Exhorting the Word of God will be held at 7 p.m. on July 22, 23 and 24, with Sis. Sonja Davis Menon, Bro. Landers Juniel and Sis. Charlene Harris guest speaking, respectively. Refreshments will be served Friday night.
