Ruby Dianne Smith Major, 69, of Strong, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado.

Mrs. Major was born, July 7, 1946, in Felsenthal to the union of William Leonard Smith and Ruby Erma White Smith. She was former owner and operator of Major’s Chicken Cabin and Sweet Shop, and was a member of the Union Methodist Protestant Church. She loved to cook for her family, loved to fish and her greatest joy was her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Carolyn Clark and Gelynn Duke; a brother, Billy Smith and an infant brother.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Garland R. Major Jr., of Strong; three daughters, Teresa Frisby, of Pine Bluff, Tammie Norris and Giff Gleghorn, of El Dorado, and Tonya Manning, of Strong; one sister, Emogene Cope and husband, Travis, of Hamburg; two brothers, Joseph Keith Smith, of Crossett, and the Rev. Donald Ray Smith and wife, Pat, of Strong; five grandchildren, Andria Wooten and husband, Justin, West Norris and Beth Thompson, Tiffany Frisby and Nick Vano, Joshua Norris, and Katelyn Manning; one great-grandson, Avon Wooten.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Union Methodist Protestant Church in Strong.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Union Methodist Protestant Church, with the Revs. Donald Ray Smith and Jody Jackson officiating. Interment will be in the Sweet Home Cemetery, Strong, under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, El Dorado.
