• Living for Jesus (Calion): A service celebrating 20 years of radio broadcasting on Magic 104.5 by way of Minister Jimmie Faye Goodwin and Elder Kathay Varonica Walter will be held at 3 p.m.Sunday at the church, located at 417 W. Main. Accord-ing to a release, “the broadcast ‘Living My Life for Jesus’ began in Novem-ber of 1994 on KELD 1400 AM and added Magic 104.5 FM after two months. The Word went out on two stations and was joined with a third station withing two years, Word Wide Christian Broadcasting Network of Nashville, Tenn., for one year. KELD was home for the broadcast for 10 years, even airing on the country station when the KELD tower was damaged anmd unable to get a signal. The broadcast was moved from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thanks to all who listened for 20 years and all the new listeners.” The guest speaker at the celebration will be Pastor (Marlon) NeVar Massey of Chicago, Ill. He and his wife are founders of “The Remix Church” in Chicago. They are both speakers of the Word. According to the release, “God has given them ways to reach the young and old. He is a music lover, a people person and anointed man of God. He is a song writer and recording artist.” He is the son of Milton Massey and the grandson of Mozella Massey.

• Changing Lives Ministries: Prophet Leonard Ford of Reality of the Gospel Ministries in Little Rock will be the guest speaker at 10 a.m. Sunday at the church, located at 1200 Champagnolle Road. According to a release, “Leonard Ford was born and raised in Arkansas. He was married and born again on June 10, 1980. Ford has traveled into 37 states and travels into Africa, Europe, Britain, and the West Indies. He is the author of several books. His media ministry began in 1987, and his television program called the ‘Truth By Revelation’ has blessed thousands over the last 20 years.” The public is invited to attend.

• Curry Chapel Church (Strong): A very important meeting of Abundance of Love Charity Choir members (past or current) will be held at 2:45 p.m. Feb. 8 at the church. According to a release, “we need your assistance. This is a very important meeting and we would appreciate you being in attendance. • Free Union A.M.E. Church: “The Old Ship of Zion” will be presented at 6 p.m. Feb. 7 at the church, located at 3349 Strong Highway. The narrator will be Bishop Dr. George Calloway Jr., pastor of St. James Baptist Church.

• St. John Baptist Church: Mission Union No. 1 will have its first meeting of the year at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Family Life Center of the church. The new president of Women Works is asking that all ladies of the district be present for this meeting.

• St. John Missionary Baptist Church: G.L.W. will present “Union County Black Girls Rock 2015” at 6 p.m. Feb. 7 at the community building of the church, located at 1018 Wilson St. Honorees are Cindy Smith, for her work in education; Carla Gibson, for her community work; Felisha Aaron, “rockin’ first lady,” for her work in the church and community; and Kayla Morgan and Layken Grimes, “our rockin’ youth.” Tickets are $10 for adults (18 years and up) and $5 for students. • Bible Baptist Church: The church, located at 2103 Smackover Highway, will celebrate its 23rd anniversary beginning with singing and testimonies at 10 a.m. Sunday. Special guests for the day will be Dr. and Mrs. Raymond Barber. Dr. Barber will speak Sunday morning, and again at 6 p.m. There will be a dinner on the grounds following the morning service. Dr. Raymond Barber was pastor at Worth Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, for 35 years. In addition, he is an evangelist and writer who was greatly influenced by the life and ministry of J. Frank Norris. In 1984, he established the Norris Bible Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth. In conjunction with the founding of the school, the Independent Baptist Fellowship International was also established. In addition to the seminary, Barber also led in the founding of the IBFI Mission Agency. He has authored several books, booklets and pamphlets, including What the Bible Teaches, A Dozen Diamonds from Daniel, Family Portraits, Family Success, and Profile of a Preacher. Several manuscripts are now in the completion stage of being published. Barber travels extensively throughout the nation, preaching in revival meetings, Bible conferences, mission conferences, Bible colleges, fellowship meetings, and gatherings such as the national Sword of the Lord conference and the national meeting of the Independent Baptist Fellowship International.

• Victory Church: R.E.A.L. Singles Ministry will host the “Single Mingles,” a speed dating event for single adults, on Feb. 14 at the church, located at 1432 N. West Ave. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for on-site registration, and speed dates will begin at 7 p.m. Pre-registration is required to ensure the event runs smoothly. For clarification purposes, the group defines single as unmarried, widowed or divorced and asks that anyone who is married and separated from their spouse contact the church for more information about a different ministry that can better meet their needs.
