JEWEL D. DARDEN

Jewel E. Darden, 76, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas.

He was born Aug. 8, 1938, in Union County, the son of the late William Turner Darden and Lucy Nancy Coke Darden Scroggins.

Jewel was a lifelong resident of Union County. He drove a truck by trade, driving for Economy Oil for over 20 years. When his health would permit it, he enjoyed doing carpentry work.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jewel Edward “Buddy” Darden Jr.; brothers, Lennie Francis Darden and William “Bill” Darden; sisters, Betty Jean Darden Eshelman, Mary Jane Darden Chipman Wright, and Annie Mae Darden Martin; a half brother, Marvin Fernell Darden; and a half sister, Morene Darden Dolley.

Survivors include Mary Darden; a son, Marty Darden; daughter, Teressa Cox; sisters, Edna Buckwalter and Pat Parks; and a host of extended family.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, at Salem Cemetery with the Rev. Heather Clawitter officiating. Visitation will start at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the cemetery under the direction of Perry’s Funeral Chapels .
