The Rev. Floyd James Taylor Sr., 94, of El Dorado, died Friday, March 29, 2013, at Medical Center of South Arkansas.

Born Sept. 8, 1918, in Warren, he was a son of the late William Andrew Taylor and Hazel Fawn Hearrell Taylor. He was a retired Baptist minister, serving numerous congregations in South Arkansas, a retired school teacher and a member of Parkview Baptist Church.

The widower of Margaret Aileen Taylor, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Malvin Taylor; sister, Opal Burks; and a grandson, Wilson Andrew Taylor II.

Surviving is his wife, Carleen Joyce Prim Barksdale Taylor, whom he married on Aug. 29, 1989; three sons, Floyd James Taylor Jr. and spouse Leta of Monticello, Wilson Andrew Taylor of Lawson, and John Michael Taylor and spouse Connie of Taylor;  one  daughter, Nancy Ann Ritchey and spouse Conrad of Estill Spring, Tenn.; one step- daughter, Perry Joyce Mason of Conway; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, ay Parkview Baptist Church in El Dorado. Private family burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Warren by Frazer’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Parkview Baptist Church.
