Georgia Mae Purtle Bowden, of Texarkana, departed this life Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at the age of 94.

Mrs. Bowden was born Sept. 27, 1918 in Prescott. She lived in Texarkana most of her life. She retired from Southern Clinic where she was the credit manager, and also served as the credit manager of Gordon’s Jewelers in Texarkana. She was a member of Beech Street First Baptist Church. Mrs. Bowden enjoyed her later years as a resident of Bailey Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation where she was voted Beauty Queen in 2009, and went on to place 2nd Runner-Up at the District 7 regional competition held later that year in Arkadelphia. 

Mrs. Bowden was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Marie Purtle; her husband, Stuart; her brother, Bill; and her sister, Ruby. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Crumpton of Texarkana, Joyce Horn and her husband, Jim, of Camden and Jan McGuffin and her husband, Wayne, of Gilbert, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Karen Crumpton of Lufkin, Texas, Kenneth Crumpton of Texarkana, Robyn Elise Horn and Susan H. McDougal, Jennifer Horn and Leslie Horn Garner and husband, Josh, all of Camden; three great-grandchildren, Courtney Crumpton Myers and husband, Jalon, Christopher Crumpton all of Texarkana and Addison Horn of Camden; and one great-great grandchild, Kylee Myers of Texarkana; and a number of other relatives. 

Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28 at the Chapelwood Funeral Home in Nash, Texas under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home with burial to follow in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens. Chaplain Susan H. McDougal will officiate the services.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Chapelwood Funeral Home in Nash, Texas.
