Janice Belle Carey, 67, of El Dorado, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, in Crossett.

She was born July 12, 1945, to Pete Tatum and Creola Belle Eudy Giles in El Dorado. She overcame a battle with cancer and spent many years battling her fight with emphysema. Her strength was admirable and inspiring and she will be missed.†Janice expressed her love for people in many ways, but the one thing she loved to do was cook for people.†Even as she battled her illness, she would always find the strength to cook for someone to make them feel loved, cared for and comforted.

Preceding her in death are her parents and her stepfather, Kenneth Giles.

Survivors include her son, Terry Dickson and his wife, Debra, of Crossett; a daughter, Deborah Clark and her husband, Mark of Benton, the father of her children, Johnny Dickson; two brothers, Thomas “Goose” Tatum of El Dorado and Robert Giles of Bryant; a sister, Rhonda Corbin and her husband, George, of Alexander; two grandchildren, Audra Dickson of Conway and John Dickson of Benton; and her companion, Jim Smith.

Family and friends are invited to a gathering to celebrate the life of Janice Carey from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Young’s. A private memorial service for the family will be held at a later date.
