Johnny L. Jones, 71, of Warren, did Friday, Nov. 16, 2012.

He was born May 4, 1941 in the Auburn Community, which is now Fort Chaffee. He was the son of Marshall “Chuck” Jones and Ila M. Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Bernadine Marie Jeremiah Jones; four daughters, Denise Smith of Warren, Angela Shinn of Conway, Tina McClain of Monticello, Tanya Johnson of Banks; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Gary Don Jones of New Blaine; and two sisters, Jacqueline Berkley of Barling and Charlotte of Fort Smith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marhsall Jones; his mother; two brothers, Billy Marshall Jones, Terry R. Jones; and two sisters, Carolyn Geheb of Fort Smith and Barbara Sue Dyer of Fort Smith. He was called into the ministry in 1961 and was an ordained Free Will Baptist Minister. He was a 32nd degree mason, Shriner and served the U.S. Army  and the Army National Guard for over 20 years.

He retired with the rank of staff sergeant in the HW3-163 Infantry Battalion and was an assistant chaplain when he retired.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Warren Cultural Center. Visitation will be held prior to the service.
