Gayle B. Long, 84, of Johnsburg, affectionately called “Boosh” by her family and friends, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012 at her home following a brief illness and entered into eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She was born March 21, 1928 in Chicago to Ross Dean and Carolyn Lassetta (Dake) Grant. On Feb. 21, 1948 she married Colonel James E. Long Sr. (U.S.A.F. retired).

Gayle was a homemaker, she attended St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, James; four children, Melinda (Mike) Brown of Oklahoma City, Okla., Chris (Clarice) Long of Smackover, Dean (Ann) Long of Oklahoma City, Okla., and James E. Jr. (Jody) Long of HidingInn, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Emily (Oby) Berry of Hot Springs, Jake (Sylvia) Long of Edmond, Okla., Matthew (Sarah) Brown of Edmond, James B. Long of Taylorville, Sarah (Gentry) Hagler of El Dorado, Stephen (Rachel) Brown of Yukon, Okla., Elisabeth (Denver) Acosta of Oklahoma City, Okla., Sgt, John Long, U.S.M.C. of Augusta, Ga.; six great-grandchildren, Cole Hagler, Annaclarie Berry, Addison Long, Pace Long, Cooper Brown and Beckett Hagler; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandchild, Brian P. Long; her parents; two brothers, Dake and Jack Grant; and three sisters, Mary Bryant, Ann Hopkins and infant sister Barbara Grant.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
