Today brings sweet memories of our wonderful mother, Winnie Bell Kegley, 86, of Hot Springs, who passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital in Hot Springs, and all the loving and sacrificial things she did for us.

Today is a day to be thankful that Alene, Elvie and James are blessed to call Winnie Bell Wilkins Kegley our mother and know the love and devotion that came from her heart. Our loss is Heaven’s gain and her memories and love will remain in our hearts forever.

Born May 13, 1926, in Ouachita County, she was the daughter of Richard J. and Abbie Mae Willoughby Wilkins. Winnie had been employed as a library clerk at Smackover High School for many years before her retirement. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death, along with her parents, were her husband, Dewey Elvin Kegley; along with four brothers, Preston Wilkins, James Franklin “Bud” Wilkins, Kenneth David “Joe” Wilkins, and Clifford Wilkins.

Survivors include a son, James Kegley and his wife, Dianne, of Norphlet; two daughters, Elvie Raper and her husband, Kenneth, of Hot Springs, and Alene Meacham and her husband, Paul, of Colorado Springs, Colo. Surviving grandchildren and great-grandchildren are Wendy Bain (Todd) and their children Carson, Carley and Jax of Norphlet, Kim Parks and her son, Whit Parks, and Joannie McClure and her children, Connor and Kendal McClure, all of Hot Springs and Kyle Michael (Amber) and their children, Keaton and Colby, of El Dorado, and Darren Michael (Allie) of Clarksville, Tenn. She is also survived by a host of special nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Crossroads Cemetery with Dr. J. D. Weido officiating with interment to follow in Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. today at Young’s.
