Elbert Ganter, 65, of El Dorado, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at his home.

He was born Sept. 4, 1947, in Calion, the son of Hosea Ganter and Elisabeth Billings Ganter. He was a retired employee of the El Dorado Sanitation Department and Calion Lumber Company. He was a member of New Olive Branch Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and later as an associate minister. He served in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, James Ganter, Alfred Ganter and Clarence “Lawrence” Ganter.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Thomas Ganter of El Dorado, three sons, Anthony Slade of El Dorado, Billy DeWayne Slade of Little Rock, Tonya Slade Ford of El Dorado and Valarie Ganter of Diamond Bay, Calif.; two brothers, J.W. Ganter of El Dorado and Jerry Ganter of Calion; four sisters, Loisteen Ganter Smith, Geraldine Johnson and Morline Ganter of El Dorado, and Christine Ganter Williams of Calion; and nine grandchildren.

There will be no viewing or visitation at the funeral home or at the service. He was cremated.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Andrews Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Townsend officiating and under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends after the service in Suite 109 at the Super 8 motel.
