MERVIN BARNES
Mervin W. Barnes, 83, of Strong, passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 9, 1929, to Claude Clarence and Verlee Jones Barnes in Mount Tabor.
Mervin was a veteran of the Arkansas National Guard and the United States Navy. He was retired from the City of Strong and was a member of Green Grove Chapel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Ernestine Wooten Barnes; daughter, Patricia Barnes; brother, Milford Barnes; and two grandchildren, Georgia Dimler, and Kensley Pace.
Survivors include his four sons, Buddy Barnes, Frank Barnes, Monty Barnes, and Tony Barnes; three daughters, Gloria Chadwick, Debra Dimler, and Tammy Smith, all of Strong; sister, Janey Lou Barnes; and 13 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Young’s Funeral Directors.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Green Grove Chapel with the Rev. Ricky Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Green Grove Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
