At approximately 7:41 a.m. on Tuesday, around 3,507 Entergy users located on the west side of El Dorado just below the intersection of College and Timberlane and south of Mount Holly lost power.
Bill Luther, customer service manager of El Dorado, said the outage was caused by a cross arm that broke causing an electrical fault that burned a switch at a substation in control of that particular area.
At 9:20 a.m. he reported that the switch had been repaired and that three of the five circuits were back on and operating. He added that all residents should have electricity on by 9:30 a.m. except for about 255 people who live near or on U.S. 82.
Luther said those residents will have a slight delay because they live close to where a part of the line needs to be de-energized before workers can begin repairing it.
However, he said power to those customers on U.S. 82 should be restored by 10:30 a.m.
