Voter turnout for the Nov. 6 general election was at 86.3 percent, or 17,336 out of 20,086 active registered voters, according to certified results from the Union County Election Commission.
Documents reveal an overwhelming majority in Union County voted for Republican challenger Mitt Romney, reflecting a statewide trend in which President Barack Obama only garnered 36.07 percent.
Romney won all but four boxes countywide, giving him a 62.29 percent edge in Union County.
