As part of a new push for more localized content in conjunction with our new focus feature pages, the News-Times is still soliciting ideas for a running series on older businesses in El Dorado.

The only criteria is the business have been in existence for 40 years or more.

What businesses would you have us reach out to?

Keep an eye on Monday’s business section where the features began printing two weeks ago kicking off with Larry’s Rexall and Timmins Hardware. In the upcoming week we’ll feature Spencer’s Iron Works.

How about Ritchie Grocery, Spudnut Shop, Trinca’s Shoe Repair, Lipsey’s Sandwich Shop to start with?

  2. Admin says:

Thanks! I hadn’t thought of Ritchie Grocery or Lipsey’s, I’ll give them each a call. The Spudnut Shop declined for this purpose and Trinca’s has turned us down in the past.

  3. While I am extremely partial, CADM Architecture, Inc. began in 1936 and has been serving El Dorado ever since.

Town House Restaurant is done! :) We called Henley’s a while back but they declined. Herring Furniture, El Dorado Printing and Joe’s Tire have all been added. Thank you so much for the ideas!

What about Minute Man? I know that they have been in business around 30 yrs but not sure if it’s been more than that?

  9. Admin says:

Minute Man fits the bill, however we’ve had the hardest time setting up an interview with the owner.
