In the midst of an Arkansas Ethics Commission investigation into Huttig Mayor Tony Cole, politics continue in the small town with a Concerned Citizens of Huttig candidate forum scheduled for Thursday night.
A letter from the CCH inviting the public to attend the 6 p.m. Thursday night event at the Huttig Community Center doesn’t indicate which candidates have been pegged for the forum, however, there are three contested races.
According to News-Times archives, Detta Allen and incumbent David Lee will face off for Ward 1, Position 1; James White and incumbent Laura Manning will vie for Ward 2, Position 1; and John Osgood and incumbent Marcus Barr will go head to head for the Ward 3, Position 1 seat. (Names typed in the order they’ll appear on the ballot.)
In related news, five citizens who’ve made complaints to the ethics commission will meet with an investigator on Wednesday to go over the information submitted, according to Lisa Knight, one of the original complainants.
