In timing with a downward temperature swing following steady rain earlier in the week, the National Weather Service is predicting a stormy season as summer slowly gives way to fall.
According to Arkansas Online, John Robinson, of the NWS, said Tuesday a weak to moderate El Nino forming in the Pacific will lend itself to warmer ocean temperatures and a wetter season with extreme temperatures swings for the South.
He cautioned against the prevalence of tornadoes in the fall, noting significant damage in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2010.
