Arkansas may have some benefits when it comes to battered and fried foods, but along with those delicious fares comes the seventh highest obesity rate in the county, according to Arkansas News.
A recent study released today showed the state ranked ninth in 2011, but has jumped to seventh in 2012 with a 30.9 percent obesity rate. Arkansas is among a number of states where one in three adults is obese.
Throughout the country, obesity rates are grim with 68 percent of adults are either overweight or obese. In children obesity rates are slightly lower with 16.9 percent obese and 31.7 percent overweight or obese. Obesity is defined at 30 percent body mass index and greater.
Mississippi led the nation with a 34.9 percent obesity rate while Colorado was the thinnest state with only 20.7 percent obese.
