The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory until 7 p.m. tonight with expected heat index values up to 109 degrees resulting from a mixture of high heat and humidity.
Residents are urged to keep indoors as much as possible.
“The combination of hot temperatures and humid conditions may make some outdoor activities dangerous by increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses,” according to the advisory. “Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.”
