It’s like training for a marathon.
Drink plenty of fluids, carry emergency snacks for energy depletion and Band-Aids, always stash several spare Band-Aids on your person.
No, it’s not Black Friday and it’s not even a triathlon, it’s Arkansas’ second annual sales tax holiday weekend starting at 12:01 a.m. Saturday and running through 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
For 48 hours, Arkansans making purchases that land on the exempt list can include enjoy a 6 percent state sales tax saving on back-to-school items, clothing less than $100 per item and accessories less than $50 per item.
The sales tax holiday was almost carried through the Legislature on the backs of several members before Rep. Matthew Shepherd (R-El Dorado) finally pushed it through last year.
This is great for Arkansas! I hope it will eventually expand to the tax free weekend that LA has, and with it being Friday and Saturday and including many more things than school supplies and clothing.
