I’m rarely one to pimp out petitions for prayer, but a figurative littering of online posts and #teamcorrie T-shirts across El Dorado sparked my interest this week and led me to discover the story of Corrie Gross Bechtelheimer, an El Dorado woman who, after being diagnosed with several types of cancer, has been embraced by the community.
According to the Facebook page devoted to her prayers, Bechtelheimer — a wife, mother and speech therapist — has been diagnosed with cancer in her liver, spine and lymph nodes. After completing radiation therapy on Tuesday, Bechtelheimer began chemotherapy today.
In addition to the sale of #teamcorrie T-shirts and bracelets through Charlotte Hardy State Farm (T-shirts) and Poppy’s Pizza in Parkers Chapel, Almost Blonde and Choices Becky Bolding Image Studio (bracelets), the group will hold a hamburger plate fundraiser on from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 2 at IBT on Strong Hwy.
Plates are $7 and include a burger, chips and drink for $7. For more information, please contact KoKo Donahue at dkdonahue@suddenlink.net.
Praying for Corrie, the Gross’, and the Bechtelheimers.
