The Union County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking for an inmate who escaped custody during work detail on Tuesday, according to a Union County Sheriff’s Office report.
Earnest L. Armstrong, 49, of 723 1/2 S. Smith St., was arrested by the El Dorado Police Department on June 2 for obstructing governmental operations, criminal trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia. In years past his record includes a number of misdemeanors with a few felony arrests for theft and drug charges.
He was transported to the Union County Shop for work around 6:30 a.m. where he worked on the asphalt crew. However, according to the report, when the driver returned to pick up the inmates at 4:30 p.m., Armstrong was not among them.
Armstrong is black, 5’11″ and 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, according to the report.
More in tomorrow’s News-Times.
So the asphalt crew was unsupervised?!?!?
Whoever was in charge of keeping an eye on work detail folks really needs to be looking for a new job. Not knowing where one of these guys was for over 10 hours shows really half a$$ management skills even if he was a regular employee. The fact that he was a prisoner on work detail just makes it worse.
The supervisor is named within the report but his whereabouts at the time of escape are not specified. A call to the Union County Shop has not yet been returned.
Typical
Regarding satires, maybe ElDo should change its slogan to “El Dorado Arkansas: Leave your sense of humor at home”
Armstrong is in custody. The El Dorado Police arrested him after a short foot chase around 5:30p.m. Thursday.
