An 8-year-old Calion girl playing in the area of Epps and Davis streets was the subject of a possible kidnapping attempt on Saturday, according to a Union County Sheriff’s Office report.
A deputy responded to a residence in the 200 block of Landing Street at about 6:30 p.m. where a woman advised her niece was playing outside at 5 p.m. when a black man in a red truck with dark tinted windows drove up, brandished a knife and told her he would kill her if she didn’t get in the vehicle.
The man is described as slender and in his mid- to late-20s. According to the girl’s report, the suspect was not wearing a shirt, had panty hose on his head, had silver teeth, and the knife had a red handle with a black blade.
Glad the girl was smart enough to NOT get in the car. The article would be more complete if it told the girl’s response, whether in words or just walking away.
Her response, according to the UCSO report, was to run away. No further details were provided.
