Long’s leadership earns $1.25M gift to UA center

In the wake of the Bobby Petrino scandal, the Donald W. Reynolds Center will make a $1.25 million donation to the University of Arkansas’ Student-Athlete Success Center, venerating Athletic Director Jeff Long for “courageous leadership.”

According to Arkansas Online, the center was impressed with Long’s decision to fire the Razorbacks’ head coach after he was found to have lied about an inappropriate relationship with Jessica Dorrell, the 25-year-old woman he hired over 158 other candidates in March.

The relationship came to light after the two were involved in a motorcycle crash on April 1. After the coach failed to reveal the other passenger and then the terms of their relationship, he was put on administrative leave. On April 10, Long made the decision to fire Petrino.
