Cotton heads the pack in fundraising

As the race for the fourth congressional district of Arkansas starts to take shape heading into the May 22 primary, campaign finance reports show Republican Tom Cotton leading the pack in fundraising with $352,504 to his name in the race for Rep. Mike Ross’ seat.

Thus far in the race for the congressional seat, Cotton has out-fundraised Beth Anne Rankin by more than double, who has raised $127,236, and John Cowart whose $22,984 represents only about 6 percent of the money Cotton has raised.

According to Arkansas News, Democrat Q. Byrum Hurst brings up third place after raising $102,489 in the first quarter. State Sen. Gene Jeffress, a Democrat, had not turned in paperwork to the Federal Election Commission as of the Sunday deadline which mandated candidates to report if they raised or spent more than $5,000.
