The Union County Quorum Court wrapped up debate today on weeks of deliberation between incumbent health insurance provider CoreSource and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arkansas by awarding a contract to the former.
CoreSource has proven itself time and time again, the justices of the peace agreed during a specially-called meeting to vote on the issue.
The decision was a reversal from a vote earlier in this week by the Union County Public Service Committee to recommend Blue Cross to the full quorum court on the basis of approximately $40,000 in savings to the county and additional discounts.
However, the JPs leaned ultimately leaned toward CoreSource due to the lack of a firm quote from Blue Cross and what turned out to be relatively similar discounts across the board between all providers.
