Alleged batterer, kidnapper sentenced to 10 years ADC

Following extensive testimony by his longtime girlfriend and the alleged victim of several violent crimes, Mark Shannon Spooner was sentenced today to 10 years in prison in Union County Circuit Court.

The state brought forth a petition to revoke his probation on the basis that he failed to report, tested positive for methamphetamine and was arrested in October 2011 for third-degree domestic battery and aggravated assault, and in December 2011 for false imprisonment and kidnapping.

As a condition of his prison sentence he will be required to complete a long-term substance abuse program prior to his release.

The substantive October and December cases have been continued.
