To cope with a deepening financial crisis, the U.S. Postal Service announced Friday the decision to close three Arkansas mail processing and distribution facilities following a five-month consolidation study.
Of the five statewide, only the Little Rock and Fayetteville facilities escaped the ax, the Jonesboro, Hot Springs and Harrison facilities will close after May 15, Arkansas News reported.
The May 15 date will allow the president and Congress time to look at the future of the agency before closing or consolidating any rural post offices, including the Mount Holly Post Office, which is currently poised on the chopping block.
