Agencies arrest 9 for IRS defraud

Nine out of 16 total suspects were arrested this morning for defrauding the IRS for approximately $525,000, according to the El Dorado Police Department.

The warrants were issued at various El Dorado and Union County residences by investigators with the EPD, Union County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Secret Service and the IRS.

According to the EPD, the investigation has been running for several weeks, though an independent investigation by the News-Times shows the operation was likely a much longer process.
