Union County Justice of the Peace John Baine announced today his intention to run for the District 7 open seat of the Arkansas House of Representatives, according to a press release.
Baine, a lifelong south Arkansas resident, is in his sixth term with the Union County Quorum Court and if elected promised to work toward creating laws that promote job creation and educational opportunities.
“My focus is to help bring in new jobs to the district by working through the state of Arkansas to assist small businesses,” he said. “We must find new avenues for employment through natural resources and through new technologies to be competitive. We have seen an erosion of traditional manufacturing and poultry jobs that has led us to re-examine natural resources as a way to create new opportunities for income.”
