The state Oil and Gas Commission will look at a permit today to allow Southwestern Energy Production Company Inc., which was recently revealed to have been leasing oil rights in the brown dense formation of the Smackover Field, to begin exploratory drilling in Union County.
Also on the docket for today’s meeting are procedural declaration of several abandoned wells, including the Robert H. Tinsley well in the Smackover Field, and the assessment of civil penalties that GEP Exploration, LLC will ultimately be responsible for, for violations in Union County.
