Voters, don’t forget to head out to your voting site to elect your representative to the El Dorado and Parkers Chapel school boards.
Glenn Glover and Todd Whatley are facing off for the Zone 7 position in El Dorado, and Daniel Rivers and Howard Skinner and running against one another for a seat in Parkers Chapel. Jason Hardy is also running uncontested for another seat in Parkers Chapel.
Voting is open today from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Pick up more details in today’s News-Times.
Eldo turnout will be frightningly low.
I consider myself pretty up to date on things political but I couldn’t tell you what School Board zone I was in if you held a gun to my head.
That is frightening.
I called that one right. And what did the paper mean this morning about if a milage was voted down it still passes if it wasn’t a change?
My best guess is that based on statute when no change in the millage amount is proposed, then only one vote needs to be in favor to continue the existing millage. Even if the votes were overall opposed to the millage, there was still at least one (54, in fact) in favor of it.
In a scenario where a new millage is proposed, and the voters oppose it, it would seem the millage would revert back to the previous amount.
