EPD: Woman’s legs run over while attempting to stop runaway vehicle

El Dorado Police officers responded to the intersection of Russell and Second streets Saturday afternoon in response to an accident in which a woman allegedly ran over her mother’s legs with her vehicle, according to an EPD report.

Upon arrival, officers met with the 51-year-old woman who was receiving treatment roadside for injuries to both her legs. She stated her daughter was driving the vehicle when the brakes failed.

In an effort to slow the vehicle, the woman opened the passenger door and put her feet to the road. When the car hit a bump in the road, she was launched from the vehicle and her legs run over, according to the report.

A witness who gave confounding and consistently changing stories was arrested for obstructing governmental relations before the daughter also turned herself in after leaving the scene of the accident. The daughter, 30, was also arrested for obstructing governmental relations as well as driving on a suspended license, according to the report.
