From a mass of other high ranking southern states, Arkansas wins as a standout with one of the highest divorce rates nationally, according to a study released last week by the U.S. Census Bureau.
Though 26.4 percent of Arkansan men are married, 13.5 percent are divorced. Whereas 23 percent of Arkansas’ women are married, 12.8 percent are divorced.
The rationale the Census notes is an exceptionally high rate of those marrying in the South, particularly in Arkansas, where the marriage rate is nearly double that of the national averages of 19.1 percent and 17.6 percent for men and women, respectively.
Wow, the Census folks are geniuses to be able to figure out that if a higher percentage of the population gets married it might lead to a higher percentage of the population getting divorced.
