Twitter just exploded with reports of an earthquake felt in New York City, Washington D.C., Virginia and Pennsylvania. Some reports put it at a 5.8 magnitude in northern Virginia.
The Pentagon was reportedly evacuated when the first tremors were felt just minutes ago.
UPDATE: Add Maryland, Georgia, Connecticut, New Jersey and North Carolina to that count.
UPDATE II: The Associated Press reports the earthquake was a 5.9 magnitude and the largest in the area by far outdistancing the previous record holder at 3.9. From Politico, there have been no reports of damage or injuries. The quake was felt as far west as Ohio.
