The 16th Annual S.I.G.H.T. Celebrity Bowl-a-thon is upon us and I’ve been tagged as a “celebrity” (I’m using that word rather loosely) bowler.
For those not in the know, the annual bowl-a-thon pits sighted but blindfolded bowlers against visually impaired bowlers. All proceeds from the event benefit the Sight Impairment Group Help Team with projects throughout the year which include assisting visually impaired individuals in their daily lives, qualifying South Arkansas University students to obtain eyeglasses, two $1,000 scholarships to Union County students, Regional Special Olympics, Salvation Army, CASA, Hope Landing and other local organizations.
Donations are acceptable even if you do not wish to sponsor a bowler. However, if anyone would like to sponsor the News-Times in the annual bowl-a-thon, please contact me at the newsroom via phone, 862-6611, or email, agatlin@eldoradonews.com.
The bowl-a-thon will be held at El Dorado Lanes, 400 S. Bradley, from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 30. Stop by to cheer me on or heckle! Who knows, I may even get a strike (in someone else’s lane).
Put me down for $100 if you get a strike in your own lane…
