Union County District Court Judge George Van Hook was appointed to the assault case involving state Sen. Steve Harrelson and his estranged wife’s boyfriend.
Harrelson and his wife had been separated nine months when he came home May 22 to find Cary Pessel sitting in his chair, according to KTBS.com.
The sides differ and both say the other was the aggressor.
When the Miller County judge originally working on the case rescued recused himself, Van Hook was appointed.
